Trout Fisherman proudly announces the launch of the Top 100 Stillwater’s in the British Isles. We recently instructed an independent panel of judges to choose waters they felt deserved this accolade based on several criteria and I am very pleased to inform you that your fishery is included on this list.
We feel that the very best stillwater trout fisheries deserve recognition for their efforts to meet customer needs and a Top 100 award gives deserved prestige to these venues.
Given that there are around 540 trout fisheries in Britain and Ireland, making the top 100 is some achievement.
Published in issue 460, on-sale 23rd July 2014, Trout Fisherman will list all those that have been awarded, and each chosen water will receive a certificate which will be posted out in due course.
Well done and keep up the good work
Trout Fisherman – Editor

I had a great time yesterday, I would like to thank you and the other anglers for your help, encouragement and making me feel welcome.
The photo was good, I will be back!.
Barry Larby – Retford
Great days fishing and thanks for the PB. I will definitely be back.
Well done to my son lee even I haven’t had a rainbow this size 16lb 8oz and I’ve been fishing over 30years but also thanks to Roxholme for being such a fantastic fishery
Congrats Andy – Rob Basilisco 3rd Feb
Nice 12lb+ rainbow for Sue Mercer from Roxholme Trout Fishery yesterday. She also had a 14lb+ fish. Great place to go. it is pristine, pretty and peaceful, with quality fish of enormous size and a very welcoming owner.
Michael Mercer – Preston 10th Dec 12
I had a great day thanks Andy once again I broke my pb both rainbow and brown trout by a pound each. That’s twice in consecutive visits and the Spanish one is happy as he had 7 doubles which he bent my ear about all the way home ha ha.
Regards. Kelvin Tallett
Andy/Pete. Thanks for a great day. 10ld rainbow, browns 5,6,7 & 8ld, 18 fish all together. I must say probably the best days fishing ever.
What i can honestly say is the best days fishing in over 20 years of angling it is not often i am lost for words but Roxholme leaves me speachless brilliant.
See you again soon Martin Booth
Hi Peter, Thank you for a very special day on your delightful water all three of us had a day to remember. You will certainly be seeing us again.
Had a great day thanks , Pete was a great help – never been so well looked after.
Will have to get me kids to get me your day ticket gift vouchers at fathers day, christmas, birthday !
Thanks again Andy for a great days fishing, my day to join the The One That Got Away club. Haha.
Still had a great day,
Martin Williams 5th Nov
Sue Mercer, Mikey Bennett and myself had a day out at this stellar fishery on Sunday. I can not describe how good it is! We all broke our record weights for trout and then broke them again. Fishing was good all day long, it is pristine, friendly and has everything a fisherman could need. I doubt there is a better place to fish in the UK? Thanks to Andy for a great day. We will be back!
I have to let them win now and again! The trip home was almost unbearable, I couldn’t have slept even if I wanted to as they never shut up about this fish, that fish and the ones that got away!! At least it means we will be back! Thanks Andy for a great day! Sue Mercer – Preston
Hi Andy, What a lovely day, Obliging fish, lovely venue and friendly staff. What more can one ask for? Once again many thanks for a great day
Michael Marsden, Soweby Bridge
Thanks andy im coming again next friday with sharpy and giggsy ………..cant wait see you then.
Lloyd Jevons, Mansfield
All our guys had a great day today thanks. Your fishery is one of a kind. We have all spoken and we know it will become a regular hot spot for the judo crew. Personally I have tried the big ones (pennine, loynton) but your fishery is more personal and I believe the better. The fish are hard fighting and yes you do become addicted to the (dolphins)big fish that just cruise round taking your fly and thinking ok I have had enough and just spit it out. After fishing it today I know and being part of the one that gone away club your fishery will become very addictive.
Thanks again and hope to see you soon.
Aaron caught the lunkers but we both had a really brilliant day thanks Andy! We will definitely be back for more of those turbo-charged trout! It makes a change to fly fish at a place with such a welcoming owner and relaxed atmosphere. Look forward to our next visit.
Cheers, Mark Shortland
Ps. Thanks for taking the photographs of Aaron, he had some gorgeous fish and its great to have a picture as a reminder
We had a fantastic day thank you!
Was my best day trout fishing! Mark was just holding onto the fact that he caught 2 more fish than me. Lol!
We’re already looking forward to the next visit!
Hopefully we will be bringing our dad and my father-in-law next time for young Vs old.
Thanks for the pics, I’ve already shown them to the lads at work to prove I caught more than just the three.
Aaron Shortland , Notts
Fantastic fishery, friendly welcome and hard fighting fish, even the little ones. Never to be forgotten
Many thanks for an excellent day fishing your lake and for sending the photograph to me.
It is very nice, but unusual, to find a fishery so well run and friendly people in charge.
I think I can safely say that this was the best days fishing I have enjoyed for a very long time,
and will certainly be back for more. I think that a dozen fish caught, including a ten pounder,
indicates the quality of of the fishery, plus probably as many again lost due to the power
that all of them seem to have.
Again, many thanks, Peter Crick. Notts 8th Oct
it was a good day i enjoyed very much and I will be back for the BIG one! a good day was had and on my first but not last visit,
Thank you for your hospitality
Jon Hallam – Derby 7th Oct
Excellent thanks we both had a great morning. We will definitely making a return visit. Trouble is… I need to buy a bigger freezer!!!
Once again many thanks
Paddy – Wakefield 7th Oct
Easily the most enjoyable day’s fishing I’ve ever had, not just because of catching a monster, the second of two “personal bests” today, but because of your and Pete’s friendliness and the sheer beauty of your pool and surroundings. You should be very proud of what you’ve created.
I’ll be back, as Arnie would say, probably with a mate or two.
Good luck, take care,
Pete. – Staffs 6th Oct
Thanks Andy I had a great time and will be back to see you soon
Mark – Worksop 5th Oct

and the welcome/assistance we received. well done.
We will certainly be back. David (Oundle)

“Firstly a thank you for an excellent day’s fishing my wife and I had yesterday at Roxholme 7 doubles caught by 6 anglers including a brown of 11lbs.Yes they do fight well check you backing before visiting, some of these fish will take a full fly line out.
John Green (Chesterfield) 17th September
“I had a cracking afternoon at Roxholme today, landed three fish to just over 5lb, lost 4 more, including one which was i’m sure a double figure fish ,
very friendly people and venue, all on the level and well laid out. I have not been fly fishing that long, and this was my best day out yet! there were lots of much larger trout showing“.
“Anytime! …. Anyone in the Midlands area that wants a great chance of catching a big fish (or a double) that fight like demons … get yourself here… it may be your first trip but it certainly wont be your last!”
Thanks again for a wonderful day at your fishery.
I must also thank you for looking after my 93 year old neighbour David he really enjoyed himself.
See you Sunday.
Martin Laister. (Rotherham) 27 Sept
Well….. WOW!!… I was there earlier to witness the stocking of Trout! Let me tell you guys I have never seen Trout that big and in such fantastic condition! Please make sure you are set-up to deal with them or you will be asking for trouble! Talk to the staff and let them give your gear the once over…. the fish of a lifetime can be lost as quickly as hooking it! Place should come with a health warning!
Martin Gennaro Introna 18 September
I must thank you for including me on your web page. What a surprise….! Hope to see you again in the near future. Kind regards Martin Laister 17 sept
